KidCo has gathered the materials and fasteners needed to mount a gate to these tricky surfaces, which can save several trips to the hardware store. The kit includes a 36 inch hardwood board, a 2.5 inch hardwood spacer, two 18 inch plastic tie straps, machine and wood screws, a butterfly toggle bolt, a flat washer and a wing nut. Use the plastic ties or wood screws on wood banisters, the toggle bolt on drywall, or attach to wrought iron. One kit is needed for each side of the gate that is not mounted into solid vertical wood, and only basic tools are required. For brick or concrete, KidCo recommends consulting a hardware professional.
